Enabling Opt Out by Reply

Abiding by the laws of SMS marketing is essential when using touchSMS. Before sending any SMS marketing, be sure to familiarise yourself with the Spam Act – Australia and New Zealand. It is very important that you adhere to these privacy rules.

 

The three key steps you should follow are:

Consent – Only send commercial electronic messages with the addressee’s consent – either express or inferred consent

Identification – Include clear and accurate information about the person or business that is responsible for sending the commercial electronic message

Unsubscribe – Ensure that a functional unsubscribe facility is included in all your commercial electronic messages. Deal with unsubscribe requests promptly

 

The easiest and most efficient way to enable and manage Opt Outs, is to set up Opt Out by replies. Here’s how:

1. Navigate to Opt Outs

 

2. Create you Opt Out Keyword

Tip: Opt Out Keywords are the words you ask your recipients to text back with, if they would like to be excluded from future SMS communication.

Standard Opt Out words such as Stop and Unsubscribe have already been set up for you.
Be sure to keep any additional keywords short and relevant. It’s important to make this process as easy as possible for the recipient.

 

3. Navigate to SMS > Send SMS

 

4. Build your recipients list by entering or pasting numbers in the text area provided or selecting from Contacts/Groups.

5. When you click away from the Enter Numbers box, your recipient’s mobile numbers are added to the Recipients List.

Here, you can view and remove recipients.

 

6. Confirm Campaign Name

Tip:Using the Campaign Name option is great when sending frequently. You will be able to quickly and easily identify your campaign when viewing your reports.

 

7. You can select the Template drop down to choose a template you prepared earlier or compose your own SMS Message.

IMPORTANT

8. Use the From drop-down to select Shared Number or a Virtual Number as your Sender ID

Tip: These options Allow Replies to your SMS and will enable recipients to respond with the Opt Out Keyword if necessary. 

 

9. Compose your message

 

Tip:Be sure to include your Opt Opt instruction at the end of the message so your recipients know what to do if they elect to be removed from your marketing list. For Example; Opt out? Reply STOP

 

10. Click Send Campaign for your message to be sent immediately or select Schedule Campaign if you would like your message to be sent at a later time.

11. A pop-up window will appear. Agree to the Terms and Conditions then click Send Campaign.

Tip:It is important to take a moment to also double check that you are happy with the number of messages that are about to be sent.
