Importing Opt Out Numbers

If you have an existing list of mobile numbers that should no longer receive SMS from your account, you can import them into touchSMS.

These numbers will be added to an Opt-Out List and will automatically be excluded from future messages sent using that list.

Importing a List of Numbers

  1. Navigate to Opt Outs in the main menu.

  2. Choose or create the Opt-Out List you’d like to import the numbers into.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow next to Add Opt Out and select Import.

  4. Upload your list of mobile numbers in a .csvor .xlsx file format.

Only one column is required, containing mobile numbers in international format (e.g. 614xxxxxxxx).

  5. Click Import to add the numbers to the selected list.

Once imported, these numbers will not receive messages associated with that specific list.

πŸ†• Support for Multiple Opt-Out Lists

touchSMS now supports multiple opt-out lists. This means you can organise opt-outs by message category – for example:

  • Marketing

  • Transactional Notifications

  • Event or Region-Specific Campaigns

Each imported number is only excluded from messages linked to the specific list it’s added to.

πŸ“Œ Example: A contact who opted out of Marketing will still receive messages from your Transactional list (e.g. appointment reminders), unless their number is added to both.

Tips for Managing Opt-Outs

  • Use descriptive names for your lists (e.g. “School Alerts”, “Promo SMS – NSW”) to avoid confusion.

  • If a recipient should no longer receive any communication, ensure their number is imported into all relevant lists or a dedicated “Global Opt-Out” list.

  • Regularly review your opt-out lists to ensure compliance with recipient preferences.
